Half sports. Half not. Because calling this ‘sports luxe’ is overrated.

Seen the latest from Puma by Hussein Chalayan yet? Well here’s a mix of some styles that are already and yet to be released from our favourite pieces from Chalayan’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

You know how much we love our sports luxe items, pieces that transcend its general purpose especially if they look anything like this. Inspired by outer space, extraterrestrial journeys and astronaut gear and fused with hi tech NASA fabrics, optic prints and streamlined details, Chalayan does what he does best and takes sports and leisure wear to a whole new intergalactic level. Once you get a dose of any of his work, a feel for its fabrics and experience its pure awesomeness you’ll know why we don’t wear anything else on a casual day or at the gym.

The ‘Space Crash’ dress (worn as a top) features the main print of the collection, derived from Chalayan’s ‘Crash’ print from his ‘Inertia’ collection, is functional and can actually be worn as a dress with heels without looking like you’re trying to wear something meant for physical activities. Think Alexander Wang and its sporty appeal.

The track suit features accents of yellow and a sculpted peak, in a marl grey jersey with a subtle ghetto-galactic feel.

The boy’s wind jacket is pretty rad too. Similar print but more industrial. It’s just landed so you can get it here. Even matches his fresh new grey do, thanks to Salon XVI.

Something else that’s launched: Cali and Cale. Meaning ‘Beautiful and Bold’, designer Amy Castle creates luxe sandals in sleek, minimalistic designs with clean lines and bold colours. I’d never really been partial to flatforms, reminded me too much of the bad kind (circa 90s) but these have an understated beauty to it that I love. And seldom would you find the boy rocking out with his toes out – probably the first outfit ever with exposed feet so that’s saying something. Guys – get rid of those rubber thongs and get these on you.
