Block Out

It’s been a while since I wore anything colour blocked – I’m talking at least a six month gap – so yeah, it’s a rarity. I find it a really overwhelming ‘trend’ and general style of dressing that requires careful execution. If you’re gonna do it, you gotta do it right. Right? And this Celine inspired colour block coat is so, so right. With its rich coloured panels, and perfect weight to keep warm during this horridly cold weather (and it’s not even winter yet) – this Mossman version is the perfect accomplice to throw over pretty much anything. I could’ve done the whole fashion week/overboard styling with it, but went for the less-is-more option, especially after my last post with the heavy accessorising.

So if you want a great coat, nothing beats this luxe-for-less from the high street.

Minimalist Maximalist

Sometimes I’m a minimalist. Sometimes I’m a maximalist. But more often I’m in-between. I feel like every time I get dressed there’s a constant battle between understated and overstated dressing. I mean I LOVE minimalist styling – then again I also love maxing out the number of pieces one can wear – and in most cases, I achieve this with statement jewellery.

So for this particular outfit, I did both. Under all the heavy accessorising, it’s pretty minimal and neutral. Throw the layers of chunky gold and silver jewellery, the holographic clutch and shades and it’s maxed out.

I guess that’s the beauty of not sticking to one strict aesthetic – consistency is great but versatility is key! Having a particular style is one thing, but monotony is another – and it’s boring!
